Dow Jones News Service.  In 1882, the Financial News Agency was founded by Charles H. Dow and Edward D. Jones, providing financial news by means of handwritten messages delivered by messenger boys in the financial district of New York.  The present-day Dow Jones News Service has subscribers in over 1,000 communities through the U.S. and is also available in Canada as Canadian Dow Jones, Ltd.  In January, 1967, the Dow Jones News Service joined with the Associated Press to begin the AP-Dow Jones Economic Report, providing a worldwide business and financial news service, and the two organizations also jointly operate the AP-Dow Jones Financial Wire, a service for businesspeople, bankers, and brokers in Western Europe.  In 1968, the Dow Jones Broadcast Service began providing business news for radio and television stations.
