A financial institution that
provides a variety of financial services in a financial package to the
wholesale or retail customer. For
example, Sears Roebuck and Company includes a savings and loan holding
company in California, a commercial bank in Delaware, a mortgage banking
firm, a full-line insurance company (Allstate), and a brokerage firm (Dean
Witter). American Express
and Prudential Insurance Company are other examples.
