The popular Wall Street expression
for those U.S. government bonds which, when owned by a decedent and part
of his estate, are redeemable at par and accrued interest if the secretary
of the Treasury is instructed to apply the proceeds to federal estate
taxes. If brought at discounts,
such bonds are especially attractive for such purpose.
