unwarranted or speculative use of funds belonging to others.
Thus the officers of a company who use the company's money
for financing an unsound venture, or for buying speculative securities
for the purpose of making speculative profits, are guilty of high
finance.

Any
situation in which the money of other people is used by a person or
concern in a speculative manner.

The
practice of borrowing to the utmost limit on one's assets, i.e., trading
on a thin equity.
